Argentina’s G20 Presidency will host the first G20 Energy Efficiency and Renewables High-Level Forum

15 Feb 2018

The first G20 Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy High-Level Forum will take place on 21 February 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, back-to-back with the first meeting of the G20 Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) on 22-23 February.

The two events will be dedicated to discussing critical issues for the success of G20 economies' energy transitions such as behaviour change, which is essential to achieving and sustaining energy efficiency gains in the long-term. The Forum, in particular, will explore synergies between energy efficiency and renewable energy and indicate how these can help countries' energy transitions. The success of planning and implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy policies in an aligned way hinges on the adoption of new paradigms, both in policy design and in the way energy is produced and consumed. The aim of the Forum is to encourage dialogue on how cooperation and a more collective approach can help countries pursue successful cleaner energy policies at the regional and global levels.

IPEEC will make significant contributions to the events, including through the release of a new report on Advancing Energy Efficiency in G20 Economies, which presents milestones in the implementation of the G20 Energy Efficiency Leading Programme (EELP) since 2017. As the lead coordinator of the EELP, IPEEC will continue to support energy efficiency collaboration under the G20 and help countries’ pursue sustainable and cleaner energy transitions.

IPEEC is an official partner of the G20 Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy High-Level Forum.
